TANCET Model Question Papers pattern for M.E/ M.Tech, MBA, MCA

The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is conducted every year by TNSF Consortium which is Consortium of Self - Financing Professional, Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu.
Exam Pattern:

The TANCET M.Tech./ M.E./ M.Arch./ M.Plan (Non-GATE) Entrance Test is of 2 hours duration. The question paper consists of three parts. Of the three parts Part-I and Part-II are mandatory for all candidates and for Part-III candidates have to choose a section as per their specialization. There are 14 sections out of which they have to choose one.
Part - I Engineering Mathematics

In this part 30 questions are there, all objective type, and the candidate is required to answer all the 30.
Part - II Basic Engineering & Sciences

Part-II has 45 objective type questions and the candidates are required to answer at least 30 out of them. For each correct answer, to a maximum of 30, 1 mark will be given and for each wrong answer ¼ mark will be deducted.
Part - III Specialization

As mentioned before this part has 14 sections in different fields such as Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering etc. 40 to 45 questions are there in each section. The candidates are required to answer at least 40 questions from there chosen section.
To a maximum of forty all the correct answer will fetch 1 mark and for each wrong answer ¼ marks will be deducted.
The questions will have 4 options. No marks are deducted for the unanswered questions but multiple shading is considered as wrong answer and ¼ marks are deducted for the same.

Structure and Syllabus

The duration of TANCET MBA Entrance Test is 120 minutes. This test will help to evaluate the qualities required for a candidate who aspire to do MBA. This test consists of following sections: Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, Data Sufficiency and Data Interpretation.

The duration of TANCET MCA Entrance test is 2 hours. This course is for those students who aspire to MCA courses.

The entire test will have 100 multiple choice questions. Other than the subjects mentioned above there may be few questions from science or verbal skill etc.

The duration of TANCET M.E/ M.Plan/M.Tech./ M.Arch/ (Non-GATE) Entrance Test is 2 hours. The paper consists of three sections. The first two parts are compulsory for all the students In the case of the third section candidates can choose their field of specialization. Candidates have to select one from the 14 questions.

Part - I Engineering Mathematics

Candidates have to answer all the 30 multiple choice questions.

Part - II Basic Engineering & Sciences

It consists of 45 multiple choice questions. Candidates have to answer 30 from them. For every incorrect answer .25 marks will be reduced. For every correct answer 1 mark will be given.

Part - III Specialization

This part consists of 14 questions from different areas like Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, etc. There are more than 40 questions in each of the sections. Candidates should answer almost 40 questions to qualify for the test. All the right answers will be given one mark each and .25 marks will be reduced for every wrong answer or if the answers are not correctly shaded.

Eligibility Criteria

MBA:

Those Candidates who have completed their graduation in any discipline or its equivalent are eligible to apply. They should have done this course from a recognized institute or university. Candidates who are at present doing their final year or are waiting for their results can apply. Those who have done both diploma and graduation can apply as well.

MCA:

The candidates should have done their graduation in any field or its equivalent to apply for this course. It must have been done from a recognized university. They should have also chosen Mathematics or statistics in their plus two or diploma or graduation courses.

M.E./M.Tech:

Candidates should have completed their bachelor’s/master’s degree or an equivalent. It should have been done in the same domain in which the candidate wishes to do M.E./M.Tech. M.Arch/M.Plan:

Candidates should have done their bachelor’s or master’s course or its equivalent in the field of architecture/planning.

How to Apply?

Candidates can purchase the TANCET Application form either by Person or by Post or through Online Registration. The application form is the same for the three tests. Candidates have to submit Rs 300/- as an entrance test fee. Those belonging to SC or ST and are from Tamil Nadu have to par Rs 150/-. They are also required to submit a community certificate. The fees are the same for the entire test. If a student wishes to appear for more than one test, then he/she has to pay an additional fee for the test.

SPOT REGISTRATION: Those who wish to purchase the Hall Tickets personally can visit Coordinating Centers with a Demand Draft or cash. They should also submit a copy of their 10th mark list.

TANCET 2012- TANCET 2012 Results, TANCET 2012 Exam, TANCET 2012 Marks

Applications are invited for TANCET 2012 to be conducted by Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamilnadu on 31st March & 1st April 2012, from candidates who seek admission to 1. M.B.A., 2. M.C.A. and 3. M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree Programmes for the year 2012 – 2013 offered at University Departments / University Colleges of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and Arts & Science Colleges and Self-financing Colleges (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges including stand-alone Institutions) in Tamilnadu. Some Universities and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the candidates on the basis of marks obtained in TANCET 2012. Other State candidates can appear for the entrance test, but the eligibility conditions will be stipulated by the admitting authority / University.

ELIGIBILITY
1. MBA: A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration and obtained atleast 50% (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying examination in 10+2+3 years pattern (or) 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern (or) B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Pharm. (or) AMIE with 2 years regular full time Teaching experience / Industrial experience in the relevant field after passing all the subjects.
2. MCA: A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in 10+2+3/4 years (or) 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern in any discipline with Mathematics at +2 level and obtained atleast 50% (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying examination.
3. M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan.: Details of the common eligibility criteria are available in the “Information & Instructions Booklet” for TANCET 2012 to be issued during Spot Registration and also in the website: www.annauniv.edu/tancet2012

Note: (i)Candidates admitted through lateral entry in degree courses are not eligible except, B.E./B.Tech. degree courses
(ii)Candidates with B.E./B.Tech./M.C.A./M.Sc. degrees obtained through week-end courses and B.E./B.Tech. through distance mode are not eligible.
Application Form is common for all the three entrance tests. Candidates have to submit only one application. The candidates have to pay a fee of
` 500/- (` 250/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu on production of a copy of Permanent Community Certificate in card format) as entrance test fee for any one of the programmes either (1) M.B.A. or (2) M.C.A. or (3) M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./ M.Plan.
If a candidate desires to appear for more than one programme, for every additional programme, he / she has to pay ` 500/- (` 250/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu).

Secretary, TANCET, Centre for Entrance Examinations, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025 on or before 25.02.2012, by 5.30 p.m.
The applications received after the due date and time will not be considered at any cost. The hall tickets will be sent by post.
